Fall Foliage in Alabama

Something of a break from the intensity of election worries and watching Ukraine.

These images are a few I made yesterday with the sun lighting the leaves from behind.  Most of the leaves in this part of the south are yellow (hickories) or a dull red (oaks).  The southern red maple lives up to its name and is bright red, but those have dropped their leaves already (at least around here.)

I like the balance in this image of wild grape leaves with reflections from Weiss lake in the background.

The oak leaves show the wear the summer has left on them, where insects have taken their bites.

For what it’s worth, I’m now an emeritus professor and am using my new found time to explore interests that were pushed to the side in the rush for grants, papers, and teaching evaluations. You can see more of my work, if you want, here

(I hope a minor amount of self-promotion doesn’t violate the rules. At least I’m not pushing industrial equipment. \snark)
